On November 22, 2018, a delegation of 11 teachers and students from Taiwan Daren University of Science and Technology was invited to visit our college to attend a seminar on basic theory and technology of traditional Chinese medicine.
The opening ceremony was held at the Department of Nursing. Yu Xueliang, the Director of Teaching Affairs Office, made a welcome speech. He warmly welcomed the visit of teachers and students from Taiwan Daren University of Science and Technology, and briefly introduced the general situation and development of the College.

Then, the delegation began the first session of the seminar on basic theory and technology of traditional Chinese medicine in the Department of Nursing. Zhuang Qianling, Vice Dean of the Nursing Department introduced the history and current situation of Nursing Department in detail. Zhang Di and Qin Kang, teachers in the Nursing Department, chose teaching materials from textbooks of “Scraping” and “Cupping of Traditional Chinese Medicine” respectively, and introduced the origin, development, concept, basic techniques, operating points and matters needing attention of scraping and cupping in detail. Teachers and students listened carefully and participated actively in scraping and cupping practices.

Subsequently, the delegation came to the Department Clinical Medical Science. Lin Qing, Vice Dean, explained in detail the application of Chinese rehabilitation therapy in modern rehabilitation medicine. Through acupuncture, massage, Taijiquan, Baduanjin and traditional Chinese medicine diet therapy, the magic of traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation was vividly displayed for teachers and students. Ms. Wang Jianling, teacher from the Department of Clinical Medical Science, led teachers and students to experience Chinese Kungfu.

Finally, the delegation went to the Department of Pharmacology for communication. Zhu Ying, Vice Dean of the Pharmacology Department led the teachers and students to visit the Popular Science Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine, introducing the history of the museum and its recent scientific activities. Ms. Wang Huifang, teacher from the Department of Pharmacology, displayed the collection of Sika deer, ginseng and Ganoderma lucidum specimens in the museum. Ms. Shen Min introduced the use of scales and the production of scent sachets, and each teacher and student of the delegation made their own scent sachets. Mr. Hu Chenqian led the delegation to visit the Simulated Pharmacy to familiarize them with the working principle of 24-hour automatic dispenser.

During the exchange, the delegation also visited the affiliated ophthalmology hospital, stomatology hospital and stomatology training center on Shuyuan campus, and learned about the causes of juvenile myopia, measures to prevent myopia and treatment principles, as well as knowledge of oral cleanliness, oral hygiene, prevention of tooth decay and social services of the two affiliated hospitals.

The visit and study of the delegation of Taiwan Daren University of Science and Technology effectively promoted the in-depth communication between teachers and students of both sides and the cultural exchanges across the Taiwan Strait. The College will continue to take the "characteristic health care of traditional Chinese medicine" as the platform, give full play to the advantages of its brand specialties, implement the "College Brand Promotion Plan for Overseas Study", launch short-term exchange projects of TCM (traditional Chinese Medicine) health care such as traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, massage, TCM nursing techniques, and help the development of traditional medicine, inheriting and developing the theories founded by Qibo and Huangdi, the ancestors of traditional Chinese medicine and Li Shizhen, a famous pharmacist in the Ming dynasty.
