Being an ancient public school with the history over a hundred years, Suzhou Vocational Health College is an advanced full-time college and the only provincial exemplary higher health vocational college directly under the governance of Jiangsu Province. The college’s predecessor is the private Nursing School of Boxi Hospital which was founded by the American Christian Church in 1911. The school is accredited as the only Exemplary Higher Vocational College of Jiangsu Province in healthcare industry.

Located in the ancient city Suzhou known as “Heaven on Earth”, the college has a total area of over 502,000 square meters and a construction area of over 300,000 square meters. Suzhou Vocational Health College has over 9,000 full-time students and approximately 400 full-time teachers among whom about 38% hold advanced professional titles as professors or associate professors and 70% have Master Degree or above.

Suzhou Vocational Health College sets up Department of Clinical Medicine Science, Department of Nursing, Department of Medical Technology, Department of Pharmacy, Department of Stomatology, Department of Ophthalmology, Department of Hotel Management, Department of Social Science, Department of Physical Education and Department of General Education. The college not only operates as a Provincial Health Training Center and Provincial Health Vocational Teaching Group, but also functions as a Foreign Nurse Training Center assigned by Business Ministry. The college offers nearly 20 specialties, such as Clinical Medicine, Nursing, Mid-wifery, Pharmacy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Rehabilitation, Medical Laboratory Technology, Stomatology Technology and so on. The college provides various overseas study programs with over 50 excellent students to the U.S., the U.K., Japan and Taiwan District yearly. The college participated in the Sino-Myanmar Vocational Education Cooperation Program with 6 Myanmar students enrolled. It also has 3+1 Articulation Program with Sheffield Hallam University of Britain to provide students with opportunities of Bachelor Degree study and above.
